Julie Rinard

julie@ignitenonprofits.com

Julie is a dynamic and experienced nonprofit executive, systems thinker, and bridge builder. She has worked for organizations focusing on environmental protection, international development, music education/performance, public health, farmworker justice, fair trade, and more in capacities ranging from program development and oversight to communications, grant writing and community organizing.

She has deep empathy for the fact that nonprofit organizations are sometimes hindered by the very idealism that fuels their desire to make the world a better place. Julie’s decision to join Harley in creating ignite was born of a burning desire to put the dynamic tension between her heart and brain to the highest possible use in a nonprofit organizational development context.

Julie is bilingual, has worked extensively with Spanish-speaking populations in the U.S., Mexico and Central America, and is currently the Program Director of San Jose Jazz Progressions. Work with these groups has had a profound impact on Julie’s understanding of her own place in the world.

Julie earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from University of California, Berkeley and Master of Arts from American University in Washington, D.C.

Julie is deeply committed to her yoga practice and feels blessed to count on the unconditional support of her husband David and the boundless energy of her two children, Kyle and Ella.
